The Schoolcraft Township Big Traverse Bay Rustic Campground is located on Keweenaw’s south shore. The park is on the sandy shores of Lake Superior facing east for magnificent sunrises. Each of the 8 rustic tent sites has a fire ring for cooking and enjoying the campfire. Wild blueberries and huckleberries abound in late August. Added to the campground are 2 rustic RV trailers sites (no hookups).

There is parking available with a vault toilet near the parking lot. A large, covered manual well pump is also available for use. The campground is located close to the boat launch at Big Traverse.
Be advised this is a rustic campground without electricity. You must get your permit to camp which can be obtained from the on site Camp Host . This is a beautiful campground, a hidden secret of the Copper Country. The sand is like sugar and the beach is approximately 3 miles long plenty of room to swim and play.
